If you like kale and Brussels sprouts, you’re gonna LOVE flower sprouts! We discovered Flower Sprouts only this year at our local farmer’s market. They’re almost too pretty to eat.
After some research, I came across this link all about Kalettes and their origin – they were developed in the UK 20+ years ago by people who wanted a new twist on kale, without the hard stalk, and who happened to work for a seed company. They’re only available from November to March, and I didn’t see them this past week at our Farmer’s market. But that’s OK, as eating seasonally is so important. And guess what’s just around the corner…asparagus!
Let me know if you’ve seen these where you live.
Ingredients:
- Few handfuls of Flower Sprouts (Kalettes)
- 2 Tbsp olive oil
- 1 tsp garlic flakes
- Salt and pepper QB
Instructions:
- Pre-heat air fryer to 190°C. Trim any browned stems (may not need to if they were harvested that day) and place the sprouts in a bowl. Add the olive oil, garlic flakes, salt and pepper. Massage everything together with both hands.
- Air fry for eight minutes, or longer if you want them crispier.

This is so yummy! I love kale and Brussels sprouts, but this is the best way to enjoy them.
