Charred Baby Bok Choy

We are fortunate to have a store in a nearby village that sells Asian goods.

They always have packages of fresh baby bok choy in the fridge. We buy all of our sushi ingredients except the fresh fish and seafood here too.

This recipe is dead simple and can be made on a charcoal grill or BBQ or even in the oven under the broiler. You can serve it as a side or as a meal. Every time we make it for guests, they ask for the recipe.

Ingredients:

  • 3 heads of Baby Bok Choy
  • 2-3 cloves grated garlic
  • Salt and pepper (QB)
  • ¼ cup olive oil

Instructions:

  1. Cut baby bok choy in half (or quarters if big).
  2. Lay cut side up in casserole dish.
  3. Mix together in a bowl the grated garlic, salt, pepper, and olive oil.
  4. Drizzle or brush it on baby bok choy.
  5. Lay baby bok choy on grill with cut side up so the garlic and olive oil melts in.
  6. After 10 minutes flip, and cook for another 10 minutes. Flip again if needed until they are charred and soft on the inside.
